e-Learning Market $17.5 Billion for 2007
Aug 4th, 2007
A growing number of brick and mortar colleges are realizing there's a lot of money to be made in distance learning. The 2007 e-learning market will reach $17.5 billion. According to an article in The Journal, the market will only continue to grow:
"With an already strong foothold in the enterprise sector, e-learning is advancing in K-12 and higher education teaching environments, according to San Jose, CA-based market researchers Global Industry Analysts, which project the global e-learning market to surpass $52.6 billion by 2010."
A larger market means more quality programs will be funded, more research will be done, and more legitimate schools will create online components. But, I think more money may also attract low-quality programs aimed at making schools quick cash. Hopefully traditional schools will see virtual leaning as a way to expand their quality programs – not a way to generate income by cutting corners.
