MacArthur Foundation Offers Distance Learning Innovation Awards
Aug 19th, 2007
Do you have an idea for a unique online learning environment? If so, consider applying for a Distance Learning Innovation grant from MacArthur. Here's how the foundation describes the award competition:
"As early research begins to illuminate changes occurring in young people who are "growing up digital," the time is ripe to translate this research into concrete designs for new kinds of learning environments…Innovation Awards are intended to appeal to pioneers, builders of new digital learning environments. These might include, for example, a major adaptation of gaming, world building, or social networking environments (such as MySpace or Facebook) designed for educational contexts; or entirely new programs."
Up to eight grants will be awarded in amount of either $100,000 or $200,000, depending on the need for start-up funds. Winners will also receive mentoring and will have their project showcased in a conference.
The application deadline is October 15, 2007. See their website for more information: Innovation Awards.
