Online Learning for Students with Disabilities
Online learning holds great potential for some students with disabilities. But, others may have even more trouble learning online than in a physical classroom. A recent article from Educause Quarterly takes a look at what online schools are doing to make online learning accessible for students with disabilities. Here's a blurb:
"Access to education has always challenged students with disabilities. The increase of online instructional materials presents new opportunities-and possible barriers-for accessibility in higher education."
The new article records the successes of the Student Web Accessibility Project, an endeavor from the University of Texas at Austin aimed at making online learning accessible for all students. Clearly online schools have a long way to go in this regard. But, it's good to see that many schools are headed in the right direction.

"Excellent post. I totally agree that it is the content and presentation skills of the educator that will make or break an online learning event, not the technology."
