Online University Review – De Vry

Jan 9th, 2004

Following on from my highlights on searching for online MBA programs, here is another useful resource called The Online Degree.

Here they rank a few of the top online MBA courses in the upper left, such as DeVry University Online and you can alternatively order a request for more information from DeVry here.

The advantages of an online MBA course depend on the individual. If you are near a university and have the funding and access to it, there is probably no better way to study. Plus you will have valuable interaction with teachers and students, gaining a wealth of contacts who may be needed down the road.

But, say you are too busy to attend full time. Maybe you have kids, a job that doesn't allow you the felxibility to study, or are not located near one of the universities you would like to attend. Online education could very possibly be for you. You may not have the chance to interact with students and teachers face to face, but you still would be doing so online. Classes can many times be structured like weekly classes at a university, or individually designed to fit your schedule. You'll just have to do some investigating. DeVry is a good place to start your search. In the coming weeks I'll review other sites.

In the future, I'll do further highlights of some programs I find of interest. With the information I posted earlier about various MBA program rankings from Business Week and other publications, you can do some cross analysis to figure out what would be the best for you, and link directly to forms here where you can request more information that will help you winnow them down.

First, I'll give you a rundown on DeVry. As well as MBA's, they also have online Marketing and Technology degrees. Again, you can connect to this link to get more information about these programs:

Information Systems Management (MISM)
Project Management (MPM)
Public Administration (MPA)
Telecommunications Management (MTM)

Here is the Business Week assessment of the DeVry Online MBA program, which can help answer some of your basic demographic questions.

At the bottom, you will notice a nice list of contact you could write to about the program after you have reviewed the materials they send to you. It's better to write after you get these materials so you can ask more specific questions to see if the program fits your needs.
