TimesSelect Now Free
I've always thought that TimesSelect would be an incredible student research resource - if only users didn't have to pay the monthly fee. Fortunately, The New York Times is giving up their pay-for-content model and letting everyone access past opinion articles and news columns at no cost. Here's a blurb from their website:
"Since we launched TimesSelect in 2005, the online landscape has altered significantly. Readers increasingly find news through search, as well as through social networks, blogs and other online sources. In light of this shift, we believe offering unfettered access to New York Times reporting and analysis best serves the interest of our readers, our brand and the long-term vitality of our journalism. We encourage everyone to read our news and opinion - as well as share it, link to it and comment on it."
Users can read stories from all columnists and can access archives from 1987 forward. I'm planning on taking full advantage - this is definitely a better deal than reading a few sentences of an article and having to decide whether to subscribe or shell out a few bucks to see the rest.

"Great article! It really helped to get an overview. Thanks!"

"Excellent post. I totally agree that it is the content and presentation skills of the educator that will make or break an online learning event, not the technology."
